Study Material : Exodus Chapter 12

Process:
1.       Reading of story.
2.       Key points:-
a.      Exodus 12:8They shall eat the flesh that same night, roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

Symbolic food taken during the Passover:-
i.      Lamb (Exodus 12:5)–
1.       Male – Inheritance of King
2.       Without defect – righteousness of Christ
3.       One year old – First born of the family
ii.      Unleavened bread
1.       Need to react fast before Pharaoh changes his mind - Cannot wait for the bread to rise
2.       Higher density and can take in bigger quantity
3.       Will not spoil for many day - can keep longer in the desert
iii.      Bitter herb – Remember the bitterness of slavery in Egypt
b.       Exodus 12:32…Take both your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and go, and bless me also.
King Pharaoh wanted the blessing from God but refused to obey God.

2.       Reflection :
a.       Unleavened bread - God planned ahead for the needs of His people. How do you relate this to your journey with God?
b.      Bitter herb – Separate a time in a year for us to remember the goodness of God for rescuing us from bitterness.
c.       Blessing comes with the condition of obedience.
