Marks of Maturity WK10
Why is community a mark of maturity?
The world is created out of community. The trinity is a community. Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
Not good, God says even before fall.
Gen 2:18NKJV
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
God will not meet all our needs. We are emotional being, relational being.
The divine design was for us to be in relationship.
God will not meet all our emotional and relational needs outside of community.
Eph 5:31-32NKJV
31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Mark 10:8NKJV
and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Gen 1:28NKJV
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that [a]moves on the earth.”
Mark 6:7NKJV
And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.
Heb 10:25NKJV
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Gen 2:18NKJV
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
Pro 27:17NKJV
As iron sharpens iron,
So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
4 Aspects to humanity
1. Spiritual
2. Emotional
3. Physical
4. Interpersonal
Community is about connection.
Pro 4:23NIV
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
Not lock your heart.
One of the marks of maturity is the acknowledgement that we all need community in our lives.
John 15:4NKJV
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
Matt 22:37-39NKJV
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
1 Cor 12:27NKJV
Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
Community gives us the strength to run with endurance.
Rom 8:28 NKJV
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

What stood out the most in this connect teaching?
Pray for one another.
