The stronghold of pride been torn down.2 Cor 4:4 states, “The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving.” Interestingly, the Greek word translated “blinded” has in its meaning the concept of self-conceit or pride. Pride blinds us to our true conditions. It is part of the sinful nature passed on to humans from Lucifer at the Fall. His sin was pride, which led to rebellion (Isa 14:12-15). This same motive - pride, or the exalting of self - came to humans at the Fall.
We have the authority to tear down this stronghold through intercession. 2 Cor 10:4, 5 tells us our spiritual weapons are “divinely powerful for the destruction of … every lofty thing raised up against the Kingdom of God”. A “lofty thing” is something exalted to a place of pre-eminence and has the same root word as “Most High God”. Used in this context, it is the condition in the human race that causes us to want to be our own “most high”. In short, it is PRIDE.
