CONNECT MESSAGE, Atmosphere - Relevant To Our City

23 March 2024 by Ps. Blake Young

1.     Relevant to our LANGUAGE

2.     Relevant to our CULTURE

3.     Relevant to our GENERATION

The Israelites was in slavery for 400 years in Egypt. Exposed to all luxury artistic art pieces. God understand and speak their language.

Exodus 31:1-6

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
“See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.
And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
to design artistic works, to work
in gold, in silver, in bronze
in
cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.

“And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you:

In contrast……

Luke 2:7
And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

A stable represents poverty, simplicity and relevant to the Israelites under the Roman Empire.

If we are irrelevant to the cities that we’re in, no one will want to hear the Gospel that we have to preach or about the God that we serve.

Relevant is not Conformity

Rom 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Discussion

How can we have the relevance of the tabernacle [the power and the beauty of God] and of the stable [the sensitivity and humanity of God] in our lives?
