a.
Exodus
10:5…..”…They will also eat the rest
of what has escaped – what is left to you from the hail – and they will eat
every tree which sprouts for you out of the field.….”
·
We can observe the
progression of the disaster:-
i.
Water to blood ->
External suffer of the people
ii.
Frogs
-> External suffer of the people
iii.
Gnats
-> External suffer of the people
iv.
Flies
-> External suffer of the people
v.
Disease
-> Dead of livestock
vi.
Boils
-> Body suffer of the people and magicians
vii.
Hail
-> External suffer of the people and partial destruction of the livestock
viii.
Locust
-> Complete destruction of the livestock. Starvation started
ix.
Darkness
-> Whole nation was paralysed for 3 days. Cannot have any activities
b. Exodus 10:7…” Pharaoh’s servants
said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that
they may serve the LORD their God. Do you not realize that Egypt is destroyed?”
·
Even the servants of
Pharaoh realized the severe destruction on Egypt. However, King Pharaoh still
hardened his heart for not letting the Israelites go.
c.
Exodus 10:22…there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for
three days.
Exodus
10:23…but all the sons of Israel had
light in their dwellings.
·
God keep the light
for His children. There was an obvious distinction between God’s people and
others during this plaque.
d.
Exodus 10:9… Then
he said to them, “Thus may the Lord be with you, if ever I let you and
your little ones go! Take heed, for evil is in your mind.
Exodus
10:24…Then Pharaoh called to Moses, and said, “Go, serve
the Lord; only let your flocks and
your herds be detained. Even your
little ones may go with you.
We
can observe the progression of Pharaoh as he felt the plaque:-
·
Before the locust
plaque : The men can go but the rest of the family members, flocks and herds
will be detained.
·
After the darkness
plaque : The men and the family members can go but flocks and herds will be
detained.
i.
Exodus
10:26…And until we arrive there, we
ourselves do not know with what we shall serve the Lord.
ii.
When Jesus saved us,
he wanted to save our family, possession, business and career so that we can
offer all these items to serve Him.
iii.
We do not enjoy the
full blessing of salvation and a total freedom till we offer everything in our
lives to Jesus, including our family, possession, business and career.
2.
Reflection :
a.
Have you ever felt
the protection of God on you during a disaster?
b.
Jesus wants
ourselves and our belongings to serve Him. How can this apply to your walk with
Him?
