Study Material : Exodus Chapter 8

Progress :
1.       Revelation from:-
a.      Exodus 8:7…..”…The magicians did the same with their secret arts and brought up frogs on the Egypt too…….”
Exodus 8:18…..”…attempted to bring forth gnats by their secret arts, they could not….”
Exodus 8:19…..”…It is the finger of God….”

                                                               i.      Up to the frog’s miracle, the magicians of Pharaoh could do equally well by bringing up more frogs from the river.
ii.      However, when come to the miracle of gnats, the magicians realised that they could no more compete with the Creator. They encountered that it was the finger of God who performed the miracle.

b.      Exodus 8:22…”…I will mark off the land of Goshen, where my people are staying, so that no swarms of flies will be there…”

                                                               i.      King Pharaoh fell into the miracle competition where the Egyptians had to suffer for it.
ii.      In contrast, God of Israelites protected His people while He performed His miracle. That is the different between the Creator and pagan gods.

c.       Exodus 8:25…”…Go, sacrifice to your God within the land.”
Exodus 8:28…”…Only you must not go very far..…”

King Pharaoh tried to compromise with God by only allowing the Israelites to sacrifice nearby Egypt.

d.      Exodus 8:28…”…Do pray for me.…”

King Pharaoh realised that God of the Israelites is powerful and he do not want to miss the chance of His blessing and protection to accomplish his evil desire.

2.       Reflection :
a.       God does not sacrifice the welfare of His people for His own gain in the competition.
b.      Do we compromise on the obedience of God by serving Him half-heartedly.
c.       A lot of time we want God to bless us and protect us but we do not want to obey Him. This is exactly like the behaviour of King Pharaoh.
